Boulders Beach

Being a single parent family from the word go, has never stopped me from traveling. Adventurous single parent holidays are not easy to find and that’s why I decided to create one my self. So here it is: The Solo Parent Adventure Cape Town 2018, an adventure for any single parent with kids. It shouldn’t be complicated to enjoy a single parent holiday abroad. However, we all know it is much easier when there will be other families with children. So let’s start enjoying single parent vacations together and join us on this wonderful adventure.

My daughter Rosie (2012) and I are looking forward to welcoming you to beautiful Cape Town. We speak Dutch and English and Rosie is also fluent in French.

Introduction Jessy Lipperts

My name is Jessy Lipperts, originally from The Netherlands. I’ve been running my own travel company from Cape Town since 2004. Many happy visitors have come and go and I’ve had the privilege to create and organise many different programs. South Africa is an amazing country where you never need to stop exploring.

Since I adopted little Rosie in 2012, I’ve been thinking about organizing travel programs especially for single parent families, just like me. I love traveling and I definitely have not stopped since becoming a mother. However, traveling together with other parents and children makes life easier and more fun for everybody.

In 2017 I organized the first Solo Parent Adventure for a small group of single parents after having organized many adventures for friends. Rosie (2012) joined on this adventure and I was the guide/organizer. I’m a qualified National Tourist Guide in South Africa and have been living in Cape Town since 2003. I absolutely love this place. It is a fantastic place to bring up children. So don’t delay and book your place now for 2018

Cape Town is quite an amazing city with many beautiful areas to explore. We will start off with a short city tour and walk to get a feel for the city. We will visit the Company Gardens, Greenmarket Square, Long Street, enjoy the views from Signal Hill and take the cable car up to Table Mountain. Table Mountain is the icon of the city that you see from nearly every view point. On top there are many paths to explore, there’s a restaurant and hopefully we will also get to see the ‘Klipdassie’, an animal slightly bigger than a cavia living on rocks (klip means rock in Afrikaans).

For those that enjoy a nice walk, it is possible to walk from Cape Point to Cape of Good Hope. After visiting the national park we have an appointment with the African penguins at Boulders Beach. In case the tide allows we can swim with them. The penguins are very small and very photogenic. After this day full of action we can rest on our way back to Cape Town. We will make sure to have lunch packs with all kinds of delicious South African delicacies like Biltong & Koeksisters.

Dinner: Free; accommodation: Never @ Home

Day 4, Wednesday, 24 Oct Safari, find the Big 5. Do you know which animals?

About 2.5 hours drive from Cape Town we can visit a private wildlife reserve. Our dedicated guide will tell us all about the animals and environment that we’re in. Hopefully we get to see lion, elephant, rhino, giraffe, zebra and many more animals. The reserve also has a rescue and conservation centre. We can learn more about this wonderful initiative. After all the activities we can enjoy a buffet lunch and hopefully have a quick jump in the pool before we head back to Cape Town.

Day 5, Thursday, 25 Oct Helping educare centres

Possibly one of the most memorable experiences of this adventure. Today we will explore one of the vibrant township areas around Cape Town. We will visit a EduCare Centre and community centre and informal settlements. Donations of clothes, pens, books, paper are very welcome. Educare centres in South Africa are not subsidised by the government. They need to do all their own fundraising. It is a big problem because Early Childhood Development is so important as we all know. Today we will give educare centres a helping hand as much as we can. We work together with They do amazing work helping educare centres as well as children’s homes around Cape Town.

In the afternoon we will go to our homes in Langa. We will be welcomed by the different families and stay with them for 1 night. It will be an immersion in Xhosa Culture and language. An unforgettable experience for all!
